A Little History<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

In the fall of 2012 eighteen singers came out to audition for a new men\u2019s chorus.  These dedicated singers joined together to create Vox Virorum (\u201cThe Voice of Men\u201d). Each individual singer offered his own unique voice to create one sound.  Vox Virorum is a community men\u2019s chorus in North Carolina\u2019s Triangle Region. Styled after collegiate glee clubs, Vox has become an intergenerational home for singers striving for musical excellence, camaraderie, and community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vox Virorum has become a fixture in the choral community and works to foster strong relationships with other choirs in the area.  Over the first five year Vox has joined together with the Women\u2019s Voices Chorus, UNC Men\u2019s Glee Club, the Singing States Men of NC State, the Meredith College Chorale, and the choirs of Muskingum University. Vox has sung for many local festivals including the Bull City A Cappella Slam and the All Carolina Invitational Male Choral Festival, and has recorded for Arcen Games Video Game Production Company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2017 Vox Virorum released its first CD, \u201cThe Music Before Me\u201d as part of its five-year anniversary celebration.  The CD is a compilation of music from the first five years of performances and is available in hard copy at our concerts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

About our Conductor<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Jeremy M. Nabors<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Jeremy M. Nabors is a music educator, conductor, and church musician in the triangle of NC. He holds degrees from both the University of Michigan, BM in Music Education, and Michigan State University, MM Choral Conducting. During the day he is the on the choral faculty at Durham School of the Arts where he helps oversee a middle and high school choral program of over 500 students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to his work at DSA, he is the Director of Music at Chapel in the Pines Presbyterian Church in North Chatham. Mr. Nabors has served as the assistant director for the Triangle Choral Exchange\u2019s to both Brazil and Cuba. He is currently serving as the North Carolina American Choral Directors Association chair for Men\u2019s Choirs. Mr. Nabors has served as a guest clinician for many of the choirs in the area including the 2018 Montreat Music and Worship Conference Senior High Choral Director. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2012 he founded Vox Virorum with the goal of bringing the joy of men\u2019s music to the Triangle. Mr. Nabors has sung with many of the Triangle\u2019s choirs including the Vocal Arts Ensemble of Durham, riverdeep, Durham Choral Society, Duke Vespers Ensemble, and the Duke Evensong Choir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About our Accompanist<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Michael L. Meyer<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Michael L. Meyer earned his BMEd from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his MM in Music Education from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. He teaches music at Durham Academy Upper School, where he conducts five ensembles, teaches AP Music Theory, and serves as music director for the school\u2019s Winter Musical each year. Mike is also founder and music director of The Seven Deadly Bibs, an adult contemporary a cappella<\/em> ensemble in Durham. He previously served as Assistant to the Conductor for The Choral Society of Durham.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As an accompanist, Mike has worked with soloists and ensembles throughout the Triangle, most notably as the camp accompanist and lead Music Theory teacher for many years with the UNC High School Music Workshop. As an arranger and orchestrator, his work has been performed by the Choral Society of Durham; Vocal Arts Ensemble of Durham; at UNC, Duke, and NC State; and by contemporary a cappella<\/em> groups throughout the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
